NoMa Egg Sculpture

Located on N Street NE in Washington, DC’s NoMa neighborhood, this sculpture is part of the public art project “The Chicken and the Egg.” The egg is constructed from interlocking aluminum “N” forms in cyan, magenta, and yellow—referencing CMYK, the foundational palette of the printing process and a nod to the area’s early 20th-century printing history. I applied a subtle halftone dots pattern and coloring effect to the background building. It evokes a weathered black-and-white print, reinforcing the visual connection to NoMa’s industrial past.
