Spiral Descent To History

A medieval spiral staircase winds its way downward like a stone helix carved from time itself. The steps, weathered and uneven, whisper tales of countless footsteps that have tread upon their ancient surface. Light trickles through an unseen opening, illuminating the rough textures of the stone with a silvery glow and casting shadows that deepen the mystery of the descent and accentuate the abstract nature of the composition.
The viewer may be wondering: what lies at the bottom of this spiral? Is it a dungeon, a treasure, or a void where history disappears into darkness? (Beersel Castle, Belgium. December 2024)
