This bronze statue by Samuel Charles (Belgium, 1862–1938) was created in 1918 to commemorate the end of World War I. It portrays a young woman personifying victory, singing the Belgian national anthem, La Brabançonne, while proudly raising a flag bearing the profile of the Belgian lion. The figure is dressed in the traditional attire of 1830, evoking the year of Belgian independence and honoring the spirit of national pride and resilience.
