Across the Fish Market in Brussels, Belgium, there are two monumental statues that I was able to capture together in this photograph. One is the “Monument au Pigeon Soldat” (Monument to the Pigeon Soldier) that commemorates the role played during the First World War by the Belgian pigeon fanciers and their carrier pigeons. The second is a statue of Saint Michael slaying the dragon that stands above the obelisk that is part of the “Fontaine Anspach.” (Brussels, Belgium, May 2010)
