Nighttime In Stockel—Gate

Under the harsh beam of a streetlight, a house’s white gate that might go unnoticed by day stands out at night—a beacon marking the threshold of a property. The gate’s clean, geometric lines contrast with the organic textures of the hedges and the towering tree, creating a dynamic interplay between light, shadow, and form. Numbered “25,” it feels both ordinary and special, quietly inviting yet firmly guarding the path beyond. (Photographed in the Stockel neighborhood, Brussels, 1975. Captured on 35mm Tri-X film.)
