Through The Patterned Glass

This photograph captures the interior view of a renovated industrial facade featuring photovoltaic glazing. Repetitive geometric patterns define the composition—glass panes framed in steel, squared solar cells embedded in the glass, and glass-filled holes punctuating the metal beams. These layered structures create a visual rhythm, while the dense grid of solar cells mimics halftone dots, softening the scene outside and lending a newsprint-like abstraction to the buildings across the street. The striking interplay of patterns and grayscale tones gives the image a distinct graphic character. (Gare Maritime, Tour & Taxi site, Brussels, Belgium, June 2024)
