Walking Past Ascension

The rigid rectangular patterns created by a brick wall and wood fence contrast with the free and elegant curves that shape a contemporary sculpture. Adding visual interest to the scene, you may notice how the sculpture seems to pair with the elderly couple: two parts each; similar curves. Titled “Ascension” (1978), the black marble sculpture is by Luxembourgish sculptor Lucien Wercollier. (“Malou 79” open air exhibition, Brussels, 1979. Captured on 35mm Tri-X film.)
